About this Malaysia eSIM

For a long stay in Malaysia, this plan gives 50 GB of data across 180 days for $44.80 — around $1.74 a week, with nothing to renew along the way.

Spread evenly, that is about 284 MB a day. It is one pool for the whole 180 days rather than a daily cap, so a quiet day leaves more for a busy one.

There is room here for real everyday use — social feeds, music streaming, sharing photos as you go and the occasional video call — without rationing.

Per gigabyte it works out at $0.90/GB, or $0.25 per day of cover.

How far will 50 GB go?

Roughly what the plan covers, if you spend it all on one thing (in total):

Mapsabout 10,240 hours
Browsingabout 850 hours
Socialabout 170 hours
Video callsabout 170 hours
SD videoabout 73 hours

Estimates only — real use depends on the app, the quality setting and the network. Downloading maps and playlists on Wi-Fi before you go stretches any plan much further.

How it compares with other Malaysia plans

Is this the right plan for you?

Not ideal for

  • Long video streams or sharing your connection with a laptop
  • Trips that cross into other countries — look at a regional plan instead

Questions about this plan

Is 50 GB enough for 180 days in Malaysia?

Yes, comfortably — there is room for social media, music and some video calls each day. It works out at about 284 MB a day if spread evenly.

When does the 180 days validity start?

When the eSIM first connects to a network in Malaysia, not when you buy it. So you can buy and install it before you travel without the clock starting.

What happens if I run out of data?

The eSIM stops using mobile data until you add more. You can buy more data in the Go2Calls app whenever you need it.

Will I keep my own phone number?

Yes. This eSIM carries data only. Your usual SIM stays in the phone for calls and texts, and you choose which line uses mobile data.

Does it renew automatically?

No. It is a one-off purchase of $44.80. When the data or the 180 days run out, it simply ends — no card is kept on file to charge again.

How do I know my phone supports eSIM?

Most iPhones from the XS onward and most recent Android flagships do, but the phone also needs to be carrier-unlocked. On iPhone, look under Settings › General › About for "Digital SIM" or "Available SIM"; on Android, search Settings for "eSIM".

How to set it up

Buy the plan in the Go2Calls app and the eSIM is ready straight away. On your phone, add a new eSIM and scan the QR code the app shows you — on iPhone under Settings › Mobile Data › Add eSIM, on Android under Settings › Network › SIMs. When you arrive in Malaysia, switch mobile data to the new eSIM and turn on data roaming for that line only. Your usual SIM keeps handling calls and texts.
