About this Romania eSIM

A short-stay plan for Romania: 10 GB/day of data for 1 day, at $6.56. It is sized for a stopover, a weekend or a quick business trip, when a full-length plan would mostly go unused.

The allowance is 10 GB/day every day and refreshes daily, so a busy day does not eat into tomorrow — across 1 day that is up to 10 GB in all.

That is a generous allowance: enough to post videos, make regular video calls, or run your laptop off the phone as a hotspot for email and light work.

How far will 10 GB/day go?

Roughly what each day's allowance covers, if you spend it all on one thing (each day):

Mapsabout 2,050 hours
Browsingabout 170 hours
Socialabout 34 hours
Video callsabout 34 hours
SD videoabout 15 hours

Estimates only — real use depends on the app, the quality setting and the network. Downloading maps and playlists on Wi-Fi before you go stretches any plan much further.

How it compares with other Romania plans

Is this the right plan for you?

A good fit for

  • Travellers on a single day in Romania
  • Heavier users who want room for video and photo uploads

Not ideal for

  • Trips that cross into other countries — look at a regional plan instead
  • Stays longer than 1 day

Questions about this plan

Is 10 GB/day enough for 1 day in Romania?

Yes, with room to spare for video and photo sharing. It works out at about 10 GB a day, and the allowance refreshes every day.

When does the 1 day validity start?

When the eSIM first connects to a network in Romania, not when you buy it. So you can buy and install it before you travel without the clock starting.

What does 10 GB/day mean?

You get 10 GB/day each day for 1 day. The allowance refreshes daily, so unused data does not carry over, and a heavy day does not take anything from the next. Fair use: 512 Kbps.

Will I keep my own phone number?

Yes. This eSIM carries data only. Your usual SIM stays in the phone for calls and texts, and you choose which line uses mobile data.

Does it renew automatically?

No. It is a one-off purchase of $6.56. When the data or the 1 day run out, it simply ends — no card is kept on file to charge again.

How do I know my phone supports eSIM?

Most iPhones from the XS onward and most recent Android flagships do, but the phone also needs to be carrier-unlocked. On iPhone, look under Settings › General › About for "Digital SIM" or "Available SIM"; on Android, search Settings for "eSIM".

How to set it up

Buy the plan in the Go2Calls app and the eSIM is ready straight away. On your phone, add a new eSIM and scan the QR code the app shows you — on iPhone under Settings › Mobile Data › Add eSIM, on Android under Settings › Network › SIMs. When you arrive in Romania, switch mobile data to the new eSIM and turn on data roaming for that line only. Your usual SIM keeps handling calls and texts.
