A month of mobile data in Malaysia: 5 GB of data for 30 days, at $5.63. That is long enough for an extended trip, a work assignment or a slow travel stint.
Spread evenly, that is about 171 MB a day. It is one pool for the whole 30 days rather than a daily cap, so a quiet day leaves more for a busy one.
That is comfortable for navigating all day, keeping up with messages and checking the odd booking, with social media in moderation. Video is best kept for hotel or café Wi-Fi.
Per gigabyte it works out at $1.13/GB, or $0.19 per day of cover.
Roughly what the plan covers, if you spend it all on one thing (in total):
| Maps | about 1,020 hours |
| Browsing | about 85 hours |
| Social | about 17 hours |
| Video calls | about 17 hours |
| SD video | about 7 hours |
Estimates only — real use depends on the app, the quality setting and the network. Downloading maps and playlists on Wi-Fi before you go stretches any plan much further.
Of the 35 plans we sell for Malaysia, prices start at $0.48, so this one sits in the upper half.
On price per gigabyte it ranks 13th of 18 fixed-data plans. The best value is 40 GB for 15 days at $0.41/GB.
Need more? 10 GB for 30 days costs $7.52 — $1.89 more.
Staying longer? The cheapest plan that lasts beyond 30 days is 50 GB for 180 days, at $44.80.
For most people, yes — it covers navigation, messaging, browsing and some social media. It works out at about 171 MB a day if spread evenly.
When the eSIM first connects to a network in Malaysia, not when you buy it. So you can buy and install it before you travel without the clock starting.
The eSIM stops using mobile data until you add more. You can buy more data in the Go2Calls app whenever you need it.
Yes. This eSIM carries data only. Your usual SIM stays in the phone for calls and texts, and you choose which line uses mobile data.
No. It is a one-off purchase of $5.63. When the data or the 30 days run out, it simply ends — no card is kept on file to charge again.
Most iPhones from the XS onward and most recent Android flagships do, but the phone also needs to be carrier-unlocked. On iPhone, look under Settings › General › About for "Digital SIM" or "Available SIM"; on Android, search Settings for "eSIM".
Buy the plan in the Go2Calls app and the eSIM is ready straight away. On your phone, add a new eSIM and scan the QR code the app shows you — on iPhone under Settings › Mobile Data › Add eSIM, on Android under Settings › Network › SIMs. When you arrive in Malaysia, switch mobile data to the new eSIM and turn on data roaming for that line only. Your usual SIM keeps handling calls and texts.
